Does anyone have a good idea for a relaxing easy-reading book for vacation?
July 3rd, 2009 Posted by: admin
I am a female and I am going on a 7-day vacation up in the mountains and I will be on a quiet beach pretty much all day, every day. I need something light, relaxing, and an easy-read. Give me some ideas- only the best books ! Thanks !

An open heart by The Dalai Lama
even if you aren’t interested in the beleif, it’s good reading for relaxation and you can take away something from it.

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult - it’s light reading with deeper meaning. Loved it.

Anything by Marion Keyes- she is my absolute favorite. Nancy Martin also has a great light mystery series (The Blackbird Sisters Mysteries). Sophia Kinsella is good too!

“Can you keep a secret” is lighthearted, easy to read and funny. Its a love story by Sofie Kinsella. If you’re into mysteries try anything by Mary Higgins Clark. For something suspensful try Dean Koontz. Also Derailed by James Siegel has been recommended to me many times.

Your local bookstore shoudl have a “chick lit” section, this is always a great place to start, and you can select the amount of romance, friendship, mystery you like in a novel.
If you like comedy, I’d suggest the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. I don’t like mysteries myself, but these are hilarious, and always an entertaining read.
The “Traveling Pants” series in the young adult section are very entertaining and nostalgic for anyone whose ever been a teenage girl and had friends. It’s a quick read for adults, so get a couple of them.

ok my favorite book is called twilight by stephenie meyer. its about a girl who moves in with her dad in a small town and finds out that this guy in her school is a vampire and they fall in love. and then there’s like this evil group of vampires that wants to kill her and stuff. i know my description may not sound good but if you search about it online you may find a better summary than mine. i swear this is a really good book. it is kind of long but since you are gone on a 7day vacation you wont be able to put it down. the first 2 chapters are boring though. after you get through that its rly interesting. the SEQUAL is NEW MOON and the third book is ECLIPSE. the fourth hast come out yet. i personally didnt lke new moon as much as the first and eclipse is deffinately my favorite of all 3.
hope i could help

I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book, and a “reader’s choice” list of favorite books. For you, I recommend particularly “The Sword in the Stone” or “A Spell for Chameleon”. Both easy reads and funny. I am currently re-reading “The Sword in the Stone” and it *still* makes me laugh out loud.
I hope this helps.

Jeffery Deaver, Dennis Lehane, David Morrell and Lee Child, in my opinion they are the best thriller writers in the business!! I am a avid reader in this genre and have read Coben, King, Koontz, F. Paul Wilson, Connelly, and many others but none can touch these authors I’ve listed! The Deaver book I’ve just finished reading now is “The Sleeping Doll”–a brand new release and has literally keeped me up at nights!! I’m quite sure you’ll love his other thrillers as well, such as “The Bone Collector”, “A Maiden’s Grave”, “The Coffin Dancer”, “Praying For Rain”, “Cold Moon”, “The Twelveth Card”, “The Vanished Man”, “Devil’s Tear Drop” et el. For Lehane, start with “A Drink Before War” (don’t let the title fool you) then “Darkness Take My Hand”, “Sacred”, “Gone, Baby Gone”, “Prayers For Rain”, “Shutter Island” and “Mystic River.” For Lee Child, you can start with his first and move forward, but it’s Ok if you don’t. Some personal favs are: “One Shot”, “Trip Wire”, “Hard Luck and Trouble”–a new release, “The Persuader”-my personal fav, “The Hard Way”, but they are all page turners! Also, last but definately not least is David Morrell. All his books are good, but I especially enjoy his last two releases “Creepers” and “Scavenger” which are guaranteed page-turners. Enjoy, Greg
